Keep Your Furry Friends Safe: Tips for Using Candles around Pets

Noreen Francis

Pet safety is crucial when using candles around animals. Did you know that cats will hide when there are toxins near them? Dogs will sneeze, their eyes will water and they may even start coughing.

Here are some tips for using candles safely around your furry pets:

Avoid toxic candles: Many scented candles contain essential oils or chemicals that can be harmful to pets if ingested or inhaled. Bee Coco Candle vets every fragrance to be Prop 65 compliant, free of parabens & phthalates and we do not use straight essential oil as many become toxic when heated. Our luxurious wax is a coconut-apricot blend and is Leaping Bunny Certified. Our wicks are lead-free cotton and we fire test every new candle scent we add to our lineup to make sure it is 100% safe before releasing.

Place candles out of reach: Pets, especially cats and dogs, can be curious and may accidentally knock over a candle. Place candles on stable surfaces where pets cannot easily reach them.

Use containers with covers: Opt for candles in containers with lids to prevent pets from accessing hot wax.

Keep an eye on the flame: Never leave a candle burning unattended, especially if pets are nearby. Extinguish candles before leaving the room.

By following these tips, you can enjoy the ambiance of candles while keeping your pets safe and healthy.
