Non-Toxic Promise
Non-Toxic Promise — What We Never, Ever Put in Our Candles
Walking into a room and lighting a candle should feel like a small act of peace, not a chemistry experiment. But if you've ever flipped over a candle label and seen "fragrance" without any explanation — or wondered why that "fresh linen" smell gives you a headache — you're not alone. We did the digging so you don't have to.
Here's our non-negotiable, signed-in-ink, never-changing promise: every single product we make is — and will always be — completely free from the following toxins. No compromises, no "safe levels," no fine print. Ever.
Safe for the whole family — including your four-legged members
No hidden phthalates, no synthetic musks, no paraffin soot. Our candles are crafted without any of the toxins listed below, which means you can burn them with confidence around children, seniors, and pets. Because the best glow is one where everyone — from your toddler to your tabby — breathes easy. 🐶 vet-recommended ingredients 😌 no respiratory irritants
Why we drew a hard line (and why you'll never see us cross it)
When you light a candle from a brand that uses synthetic additives, you're often releasing a complex cocktail into your air — volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hidden phthalates, and paraffin soot. We wanted to build something different: a candle that smells like a garden after rain, not a chemistry textbook. So we rebuilt every recipe from the ground up, starting with a simple rule: if we wouldn't burn it next to our own child's crib, we won't sell it.
It's not enough to be "paraben-free" while ignoring organ toxins. Or skipping phthalates but still using undisclosed carcinogens. Our promise covers the full spectrum of known harm — exactly the way science defines it. And we review every raw material, every essential oil blend, and every new scent against these nine categories before it ever touches wax.
What we use instead (because we're not about fear — we're about better choices)
At Bee Coco Candle, we replace all the junk with 100% coconut wax + a touch of apricot (vegan, creamy, and soot-free), cotton-core wicks that burn clean, and fine fragrance oils that are phthalate-free, paraben-free, and rigorously vetted for purity. We also love pure essential oils from verifiable sources — think wild orange, lavender, and cedarwood that actually smell like nature intended.
Our "free from" list isn't just legal box-checking. It's our brand's heartbeat. It shows up on every product page, our footer, and — most importantly — in the way we formulate. Because you shouldn't need a chemistry degree to buy a healthy candle. You just need a brand that does the homework for you.
Frequently asked by our community
❓ Are Bee Coco candles completely fragrance-free?
No — we use thoughtfully sourced fragrance oils and essential oils. But they are 100% free of phthalates, parabens, and all the other categories listed above. Many of our scents are also safe for pregnancy and households with pets (we publish ingredient transparency for every single candle).
❓ Does "Prop 65 free" mean you avoid everything on that list?
Yes. The California Proposition 65 list contains over 900 chemicals — including natural ones like lead and certain plant-based toxins. We go beyond compliance: we intentionally avoid every single substance on that list that could appear in candle ingredients, including trace contaminants. No exceptions.
❓ Can I see your test results or certifications?
Absolutely. We work with third-party labs to verify that our candles contain no detectable levels of the toxins above. Reach out to customerservice@beecococandle.com and we'll share summaries directly. Transparency isn't a marketing word for us — it's a door that's always open.
❓ Are Bee Coco candles safe for dogs and cats?
Yes. Because we exclude all phthalates, sulfates, synthetic musks, and respiratory irritants, our candles are a much safer choice for homes with furry family members. That said, we always recommend never leaving a burning candle unattended around any animal, and providing good airflow — just as you would with any candle.
